by signing in you agree to these terms. questions go to hello@tradeipedia.com
it's play money
coins, shares, and options in Tradeipedia have no real-world value. they can't be cashed out, traded for real-world value, or moved outside the game. prices only move because of what players do. i don't give financial advice
who can play
you need to be 18 or over. one account per person: no spare accounts, and no sharing
sneaky trading is part of the game
real markets ban insider trading and market manipulation to protect people's real savings. nobody here has any, so go wild: pump a stock, corner it, bluff with orders you later cancel, start rumours, or team up with friends to move a price :all with your own account, against other players who can do the same. i've set a 25% price band: trades can't go through more than 25% away from a stock's recent price, which stops some of the more egregious bad behaviour
what isn't allowed
- buying, selling, or trading coins, shares, options, or accounts for real-world value, or offering to do so
- moving coins or value between accounts -- trading with a friend, or with another account, at prices meant to hand coins over
- editing Wikipedia to move a stock. leave the articles alone: they belong to everyone, and vandalising them gets you banned here as well as there
- automating your play with scripts or bots, or trying to break, overload, or get around the game
- usernames that are hateful, sexual, impersonate someone, or are otherwise offensive
systems are in place to monitor bad actors. accounts that break these rules may be renamed, have trades reversed or coins and shares taken back, or be frozen or removed. some traders in the game are automated by me, to keep the markets lively
the game can change
i may change the rules, prices, rewards, or features, reset parts of the game (balances included) when something goes wrong or the game needs it, and pause or end the game. the game comes as it is, with no promise that it's always up or free of bugs
Wikipedia content
article text and titles come from Wikipedia, available under the CC BY-SA licence. Tradeipedia isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Wikipedia or the Wikimedia Foundation, and a stock's price says nothing about the article's subject
leaving
you can delete your account any time from your profile page. see the privacy notice for information regarding the handling of personal data
liability
the game is free and its coins are worth nothing, so i'm not liable for any lost coins, shares, or game progress. nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't let me limit (like for death or personal injury caused by negligence), or your rights as a consumer
changes and law
i may update these terms. the date at the top shows the latest version. continuing to use the site shows you accept these terms. these terms are governed by the law of England and Wales
